    @spetryjohnson @QuartzAtWork In my experience, I've never just given the 2-3 hours. (1) I want to impress, so I"m not going to turn in something I'm proud of. (2) The odds that I'm using the exact tech stack you want me to build in are very small, so there's usually some ramp-up time on things.

      @spetryjohnson @QuartzAtWork Also, when I am interviewing, I'm usually not just interviewing one place. Your 2-3 hours is not that bad for me, but when you add on 2 other places that want 2-3 hours, now I'm looking at 12 hours of unpaid homework this week.

        @spetryjohnson @QuartzAtWork In addition - 2-3 hours of free time is a privilege. I am lucky in that I have it to give. But you've immediately disqualified someone like a single parent, who has to work all day, take their kids to sports at night, and is honestly just exhausted by 9pm.
