In 2020 I buried myself in being active. I figured I'd take a small step back in 2021 when the world opened up and I was able to do other things. Instead I doubled down on being active.
My Strava self-promotion/I mean my Strava unwrapped, in charts:
Over 3500 miles total! Nearly 600 more than last year -- this is because I focused more on my bike than my run. Last year I ran a marathon & a couple half marathons; this year I didn't even run a half.
Significantly more elevation gain this year! This is again because I spent a lot more time on the bike -- and more specifically, I spent a lot of time on the bike on Zwift climbing virtual mountains. (That's why the elevation is way higher in the winter months.)
Narrowing it down to individual disciplines -- my running was WAY down. 550 miles this year, compared to about 900 last year. Again, I did more long-distance events last year. I can also feel this -- when I just want to do something, I reach for the bike, not the running shoes.
Finally, this one's my favorite. Nearly 3000 miles riding this year! Over 900 more than last year 💪🏼
Yes, I've had the conversation with my family about whether it's reasonable for me to spend a few more hours on the bike before new years eve. No, it's not reasonable.
