    1. A short, small race was made shorter & smaller by buckets of rain. That won't prevent me from being proud of my first time on a podium since I took 2nd place in the second grade Oconomowoc school district spelling bee. (My wife won her age group too, but that's not new for her.)

    Because I know you're dying to know, 1. I lost that spelling bee on the word "embarrassed". 2. No, I wasn't EMBARRASSED, I was just mad because I was sure for years after that I spelled it correctly. 3. Yes, I'm still mad about it.
